How much should a website cost?

Website design prices vary across the board, if you build it yourself you can expect to pay an upfront cost of $100 and an ongoing monthly cost of $30-$40. If you hire a designer or developer, expect to pay $400-$600 on the low end and $1,000-$5,000 on the high end. At orbital, our average cost is about $500.

Unfortunately the cost is something you can’t avoid but you can work with quality designers for affordable prices if you know where to look. If you own a small business and pay anywhere over $1,000 chances are, you are getting ripped off. Although big corporations can pay up to $20,000 if the task is daunting.

You also have to consider what you want on your website and it’s content. A smaller website with 8-12 pages is typically easier and shouldn’t blow the bank, you should expect to pay $400-$600. 12-18 pages is your typical website and depending on the content, you should pay around $600-$800. Anything bigger than 20 pages would be considered a big website and you could pay around $1,000.

However, it’s not just about the amount of pages, the features and elements on your page are also just as important. A page with very basic features and not many unique elements should be on the cheap side of website building and designing. A site with many unique features and operatibilities will obviously be more expensive.

We hope this helped you get an idea of what you should expect to pay for your website. If you need help or a better idea of website design pricing give us a call. We want to help as many small businesses who may not have a $1000 budget for a quality website.
