What makes a website good?

The best websites all have 3 things in common, a responsive design, optimized for mobile, and easy for your potential clients or customers to use. Although those are the 3 most important things, there are many other elements that you should focus on to be ahead of your competition.

Responsive web design is the most important factor when someone asks, “what makes a website good?” If your website loads slower than 2 seconds then you have a major problem, a website that takes longer than 2 seconds reduces your conversion rate by 50%+. Today’s users want a reason to click on your page, you must remove any reason that might trigger them to do that. A responsive design is the easiest way to get more quality traffic to stay on your website.

A huge problem we see with modern designers is a lack of significance for the mobile users of their website. Over 54% of today's traffic is on mobile devices. We actually start designing from the mobile first and then we move to the desktop, which is opposite of most website designers.

Although mobile is emphasized, the website has to be extremely user friendly on all devices, no matter if its a 32’ monitor or a 4’ wide phone. The user must feel welcomed on all pages.

Those are the 3 things you absolutely must design your page around but there are also many other elements that you should give significance too. One thing we didn’t mention is that you should always keep in mind that your user is constantly looking for something to distract them, you have to provide value to people to keep them interested.

We hope this helped you get an idea of what makes a good website. If you ever need help don’t be afraid to call us or send us a message for advice on your website build.
